My Manifesto for 2010 - A Work in Progress
I've been a fan of Jamie McKenzie for several years. His work on questioning has really helped me as a teacher.
I've developed a "Response Sheet" for my 9th grade History students in CF. It's simply a half sheet of paper where students record their questions, predictions and judgments AS THEY READ. It has become one of the best diagnostic tools I have used.
I've done a lot of small group work and have groups type some of their best questions on a computer projected on large screen. It's a quick and easy way for all students to see examples of well written questions.
End of year evaluations have indicated that students have really enjoyed the opportunity to ask their own questions and they know that they have improved in their ability to do this.
This takes some serious patience because too many students arrive with the "right answer mentality." But with patience and persistence in using the "Response Sheets," students begin to see their own improvement and take charge of their own learning -- take the time to follow their curiosity.
Keep up the great work. I attended the ITEC keynoters and enjoyed having your comments posted so quickly. I could have listened to Warlick all day.

I am so proud of you for "sticking to it". Students have been trained to be good question - answerer's. It takes time build their question-asking muscles.
Keep up the great work!
